Void

She felt jaded in a way she never thought she’d feel.

The thing was, even though Nelly had heard it countless times before, she still thought adulthood was this big, thrilling adventure.

But she was wrong.

It was filled with uncertainty, and heartache, and all manner of things she just couldn’t fix, no matter how hard she tried.

And the thing that really caused her anxiety to spill over the top, rolling and foaming, creating an endless chaos of never ending, never stopping moments, was the fact that it seemed infinite.

She was living in a void, based off of her own decisions and mistakes and troubles, and even her own happiness had lead her to be where she was now.

And it was just so overwhelming- to think that her life was just a stream of work, gym, read, sleep. 

That mind kind of monotony was enough to kill a person.

And she didn’t want to die, at least not yet, not until she was old and wrinkled or until she had a least lived so much of life that she had nothing else to give.

So she made a promise to herself to see the world, to do more things. Even if all that meant was her spending a Saturday afternoon drinking coffee alone in a coffee shop reading a book, rather than spending  it sequestered away in her room.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that. But Nelly had done that for so long that she finally felt like traversing the world; she wanted to see what it was made of.

So that was her plan: it was simply a case of putting into action…
