Lost


The thing about life is that people get lost- they lose themselves in people who don’t care; lose their purpose by buying into meaningless things. But the worst thing they lose are their lives, and once those are gone, they can never be brought back. 

But this isn’t a story about loss, or maybe it is a little, but that’s besides the point. The point is that what people don’t realise is that when they become lost, they find something even better…

She couldn’t breathe; it felt like she was suffocating and there was nothing she could do to stop it. As she looked around, her senses were overwhelmed by the indefinite feeling of it all. Blackness clouded the edges of her vision, and she was swimming in the hopelessness of it all. She was choking, her lungs weren’t working and she didn’t see how she could ever find a way out of it. It was all consuming. Never ending.

This was it.

Wake up, she heard but it was distant, far away.

‘Wake up, wen, wake up’

Her eyelids fluttered, and suddenly she could breathe again, that heavy weight was gone. As her eyes opened she was aware of one thing: him. He was all she could see, feel, hear. He was everywhere. And even though she couldn’t quite place his face yet, she felt safe with him. Little did she know he was anything other than safe. He was lethal, and her pain was only just beginning…
